|Information Technology students from New Amsterdam Multilateral School were treated to an informative session as computer giant STARR Computer recently hosted 65 Fourth and Fifth form students who were given a tour of the Samsung Experience Centre, Technical Department and Renewable Energy Installation. The enthusiastic students interacted with staff members and asked questions on solar panels and wind power. General Manager, Rehman Majeed made a short presentation to the students encouraging them to focus on their studies and to remember that a technology career can be fun, yet very rewarding. He said that 20 years ago, students did not have the benefit of the internet for research so students today have access to the “world largest library”. They should use the internet for learning and research first and foremost.Mr. Majeed said that STARR started educational field trips and seminars over 10 years ago. Thousands of students from Secondary Schools, University of Guyana, and Technical Institutes, have attended. To further this drive STARR hopes to partner with the Ministry of Education to have seminars covering renewable energy and hands on demonstration in all public schools in Georgetown.? He thinks programmes like this can better help students visualize and learn more about renewable energy solutions.? STARR has been using renewable energy for over the past six years. He also thanked teachers, Parbattie Phillips, Jason Phillips, Mr. NatesawarBarran,Cheap NFL Jerseys, and Roshanna Allison for making the effort to give the students such an educational experience.
